Normally this letter would be posted on the Traders Forum. We felt it was worthy of being shared by all our website visitors. Please pop into Two Thin Laddies, sign their petition and give them your support.

Fellow Traders

It was our intention to write before now to let everyone know about the
situation at Two Thin Laddies regarding the Outside Tables and Chairs
Permit which has rocketed from £110 to £780 this year.  We kept waiting
for someone else to register a complaint but the whole issue just
seemed to have slipped under everyone's radar and so finally, and very
reluctantly, we mounted our own protest which involved many phone
calls, e-mails, a petition and several frustrating dead-end calls with
the different departments at the Council.

We did receive great support from Alison Johnstone, the local Green
Councillor whom I think many TTA members have already met, and then on
Friday the Evening News got involved.  It seems Saturday's front page
story "License to Kill Cafe Culture" has stirred up some strong
feelings - other restaurants and cafes are beginning to speak up, and
rumour has it the Council may yet think again about its pricing
policy.   We don't know what will happen, but even if we end up having
to find the £780, at least more people are aware of the situation now.
We really want to thank everyone who has come in to Two Thin Laddies
over the past week to sign our petition and express their support.

It's great to meet some of the other Traders in person and heartwarming
to receive such great support.  Many thanks to you all - we'll let you
know if there are any developments!
